Anniversary Adrenaline Dodge: Target Lock, Space and Timing

Understand why Anniversary’s adrenaline dodge fails when target lock, movement space or the finishing aim cue is missed.

It is a sequence, not one button

Keep weapons drawn and maintain the enemy target lock. Build the encounter’s rage state through combat, then watch for the charge and slow-motion dodge cue. Movement and the final shot have separate timing.

Leave room for the dodge

Before provoking the charge, place Lara where she can move without hitting a wall, tree or other obstacle. A correct input can still fail if the movement is physically blocked. The Lost Valley’s T. rex encounter makes this particularly noticeable.

Follow the targeting cue for the headshot rather than firing indiscriminately throughout the slow-motion sequence. When practicing, prioritize recognizing the cues over spending stronger ammunition.

Match the current controller

Reference tables include PC and several consoles. Use the PS3 prompts displayed by the game; keyboard directions or Wii gestures are not universal bindings.

The centaur encounter adds its own shield mechanics. Learning the basic dodge helps, but it is not by itself the complete centaur solution. Keep a save before a boss so you can practice without replaying the level.
