Legend England: Defeat the Serpent with Bells and Cages

Use the bells and grapple levers to defeat England’s lake serpent, and avoid a documented cage-mechanism problem.

Guns alone cannot finish this fight

After reaching the tomb and returning toward the broken bridge, the lake serpent appears. Normal gunfire is not the damage solution. The arena provides four bells and four grapple-operated cage mechanisms.

Repeat the environmental attack

  1. Shoot a bell with the pistols until the sound draws the serpent’s attention.
  2. Holster the guns promptly and grapple the lever beside that bell.
  3. Pull to drop the cage onto the distracted serpent.
  4. Move to an unused bell and repeat. Successful attacks consume the corresponding mechanism.

Between attempts, avoid the spitting attacks and keep clear of the head. Grappling the correct lever matters more than firing continuously at the creature.

If a cage refuses to drop

The walkthrough documents a lever/cage timing bug. Avoid operating the levers before the encounter or repeatedly spamming grapple during the fight. Keep a save from before entering the tomb or starting the battle.

If a mechanism is already stuck, reload an earlier save and repeat the sequence. That is a documented recovery option, not a promise that every platform or save state behaves identically.
