Underworld Mediterranean: Open the Temple and Defeat the Kraken

Solve the underwater circle door and the kraken’s suspended-platform mechanism in Underworld’s Mediterranean chapter.

Open the underwater entrance

The Path to Avalon introduces a circular door with missing handles. Explore the nearby submerged passages and return with the handles before trying to finish the pattern. With all three installed, rotate the interlocking circles so the upper central circle contains the open-eye carvings.

Keep an eye on air during exploration. Returning to the surface is preferable to rushing an unfamiliar submerged passage with little breathing time left.

Use the room, not just the guns

Niflheim’s kraken blocks the route through the chamber. The solution uses the huge suspended spiked platform and the mechanisms on the sides of the room. Follow the side routes to free the mechanism, then reach the switch ledge above and behind the creature.

Raise the platform with the switch. Use precision aim on the weak chain links on either side of the ledge so the platform can fall. Shooting the kraken directly is not a substitute for releasing the trap.

Keep the version straight

These references cover the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360-style level. Wii and PS2 have different guides. The route diagram records the puzzle sequence rather than the shape of the underwater corridors.
