Orient yourself at the tower

Gate of the Dead begins with a dark approach and the large mechanical tower. Establish the route between the ground and its successive tiers before taking optional treasure detours. The tower’s moving parts are part of the climb, not scenery to jump through at random.

After the tower, the route continues into Valhalla. The motorcycle corridors and timed doors reward knowing the turn you need before starting an attempt. Preserve a save before committing to an unfamiliar timed branch.

Use the machinery’s full cycle

In the hammer-room traversal, Lara climbs columns, catches moving shafts and transfers to chains. Let a gear carry the shaft into the appropriate position before jumping. Repeatedly tapping jump as soon as Lara grabs on can send her away from the intended landing.

Keep the camera behind the direction of travel when transferring from a chain to a ledge. Look for the return doorway and the roller hazards after landing; reaching the upper ledge is not yet the end of the sequence.

Main route versus relic route

Valhalla includes an additional timed relic branch. If you only want story progress, identify it as a detour rather than assuming every timer is a mandatory exit.
